Leading WA traffic management company Carrington's Traffic Management Services has once again stepped up to sponsor the 52nd running of the Light Car Club of WA’s Safari Rally.
Carrington's Traffic Services have been supporting the event since 2011, the company established in 1993 have been supplying traffic management to the construction and road work industry along with special event traffic management.
The Carrington's traffic services Safari Rally is the final round of the Western Australia Rally Championship with 3 competitors who could walk away with the championship. Tom Wilde and his girlfriend Madelin Kirkhouse lead the charge against all odds in the Verandah Apartments Honda Civic on 328 points. Up against the more powerful Subaru Impreza WRX turbo 4 wheel drives of John O'Dowd and Ken Sheil's in second with 306 points. Followed by Stephen Oxley and Michael Wood also in a Subaru on 293 points, the 2017 Champion's is definitely coming down to the wire. Which could be decided by something silly, like a flat tyre or a spoiler, or like Dylan King or John Macara slotting into the right spot, to determine the out-come. Making one very exciting finish to the State Championship.
The Clubman Cup teams will be out to play in the forests as well. With 5 teams in the hunt for the Cup. Brock Nicoli and Daniel Adams leading in their Hyundai Lantra , ahead of the super consistent Andrew Percival and Jim Pearce in a Honda Civic . Followed by South-West brother's Mitchell & Stuart Clark, who will be hoping for better luck this rally after a tree branch fell, smashing the windscreen of their Datsun 1600, on the liaison section to the first stage of the last rally. They are followed by husband and wife team of Graeme and Kathy Miles in a Mitsubishi Lancer. We also have the leading rookie team of Terry Hughes and Monique Smith in a Daihatsu Applause. To have any chance of taking the 2017 Cup, all will need to have a strong result from this penultimate round before the final round, the Darling 200 Rally in November.
As for the 2wd, although Tom and Madelin already have it sewn up, the likes of Razvan Vlad and Damon Nicoli in their Ford Fiesta will be out to put on a good show.
