Last night I attended a food photography workshop put on by Olympus and Camera Electronics at the Brika Meze Bar in Stirling Street in Perth.
It was a fun evening which started with a bit of new product bits from Olympus followed by a talk about photographing food with some good information which can also be used in other joinders of taking photos. Then the fun started, taking photo's. As it was put on Olympus, we got to play with the OM-D series of cameras. It's always good to try something different coming from someone that uses Canon cameras.
I like my Canon setup for my motorsport photography but for a lightweight unit the OM-D does an extremely good job and for someone that want's a lightweight travel camera with out going full SLR but wants to have a little more creative control with a choice of different lens this would be a excellent choice (my setup is a heavy unit for travelling and a bit intrusive for street photography). After seeing the result the camera was knocking out in a very low light environment I can see why some of the customers at the dive shop use these camera in housings for underwater photography. I was impressed.
For me it was a very informative evening, It's always good learning another aspect to photography and play with somebody else's toys .
